This morning, my sister Melissa and her four amazing children joined us for breakfast at the Cookroom.

Couple dressed as a Dos Equis beer commercial for Halloween

I don't always drink beer, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis

Lauren and I won some cash money at our Halloween party for winning the best duo category.

We actually tied with the Ocean Spray cranberry guys.

Lauren and I each voted for us.  Dave and Matt (the cranberry guys) both voted for us too.  That’s a 4 vote swing in the polls, which put 80 cool George Washingtons in our pocket and 80 less in theirs.

Moral of the story:  You ALWAYS vote for yourself.

The Most Interesting Man in the World might say:
“If you don’t vote for yourself, why should anyone else?  Stay Thirsty My Friends.”

That’s what I’ll be doing right now in the Best of Long Island contest.  I’m going to this link to vote for the Cookroom in all 5 categories:

  • Best Breakfast (the Cookroom, check)
  • Best Brunch (the Cookroom, check)
  • Best Burger (us)
  • Best French Fries (us again)
  • Best Pancakes (I’m going with us)

Best breakfast on Long Island nomination

It’s voting time again.  Remember, you can vote once per day.  So, die hard Cookroom fans, we’re looking for you to help us do what it takes to crown us Best of Long Island.  Set a reminder on your phone, put a picture of the Cookroom on your fridge, sleep next to your leftovers, whatever helps remind you to take 30 seconds per day to vote us best breakfast.

Now, superfans, we know what you’re thinking.  What about best burger, best diner, best brunch, best luncheonette, etc.?  I know, we agree, those categories are incomplete without the Cookroom in the running.  However, we are thankful for what we have.  So let’s dominate this race in the best breakfast category.

Cast your Vote here.

Thanks for all your support!  the Cookroom loves you.

Coastal evacuations to the north and south, let’s meet in the middle.

the Cookroom.  Middle Island.  Great place to hunker down during the storm.  Especially with free mimosas flowing.

Of course, this is all pending electricity.  If we’ve got power, you’ve got pancakes.  Stay tuned.  Give us a call.  631.696.4260

While Long Islanders board the windows and bum rush the beer distributor in preparation for Irene, Lauren is in San Diego making plans for our wedding.  Great timing Lauren.
